A first-gen Sebring coupe. I though they were all gone, lost to the annals of history...

Whoa, I forgot these existed. I thought it was just the Stratus coupe or whatever the hell they were called.

I wish I could forget it. There's been one parked a few doors down from me for years.

I can't find the picture but I believe the sebring coupe was raced in a touring car series like the stratus sedan was. I remember having modded Sports Car GT way back in the day (2004ish) to resemble a more common touring car series and one of the cars was a sebring coupe.

That reminds me, the '95-'96 models would be an excellent candidate for Cars With Awful Fake Air Intakes . The entire "grille" is fake.

Believe it or not, that thing was running on a Galant/Eclipse platform. Very strange car.

Yes. And the first gens supposedly weren't that bad to drive, based on the Galant platform with four wheel double wishbone suspension and variable speed rack and pinion steering. They were cousins of the 90's Dodge Avenger coupe, but with different styling and a more comfortable suspension setup.

There's always been a Sebring coupe, and it's always been a completely different car from the Sebring sedan/convertible, with only a name and some styling cues in common. The first gen one was a sister to the 90's Dodge Avenger coupe , based on a modified Galant platform and with suspension bits taken from the Talon/Eclipse.

The second gen one was based fully on the third gen Eclipse and was a twin of the Stratus Coupe . I think the pre-2003 ones (above) looked fantastic, but then Chrysler went and ruined it with this disgusting facelift.

Hmmm, the more I know.

I'd just take the front clip off the Dodge and stick it on the first gen Sebring coupe. And manual swap of course.

In terms of these things 'fading' away, it's usually in terms of their awful clearcoat fading away after like 2 years...

HAHA, holy shit I had completely forgotten these exist. It's crazy how fast they made their way to the scrapyard.
